![]() 2001 Citizen of the Year - Linda K. Jones The Greater Delmar Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor the 2001 Citizen of the Year, Linda K. Jones. Linda was born in Arlington, Texas but has lived in Delmar for 26 years. She is married to Manson Jones and they reside on Bi-State Boulevard in Delmar. Their family includes three children: Michelle Hastings, Joey Hastings and Manda Jones, as well of two grandchildren, Amber and Jordan. Linda's parents are James and Peggy Poole. Linda has been employed at Wilmington Trust for 20 years. For 19 of the 20 years, she was located in the Delmar branch of the bank. She has completed many advanced banking courses that have resulted in her advancement in the banking business. She is currently Assistant Vice President and Branch Sales Manager of the Georgetown Office. Additionally, she is a personal financial advisor for Wilmington Bokerage, a Wilmington Trust affiliate. During her employment with the bank, Linda has served as an officer for the Bank Administration Institute, Lower Shore Chapter for five years and was president of the chapter for the two years of that tenure. The Greater Delmar Chamber of Commere has been pleased to have Linda assist with various activities that the chamber sponsors. During her 15 years with the chamber, Linda's dedication was instant and long lasting, serving as Secretary, Treasurer, and two terms as President of the organization. In addition to the offices she held, Linda served as chairperson of the Citizen of the Year committee for nine years and served as liaison between the chamber and the town of Delmar on the sign ordinance. Spending five years working on the Delmar Day in the Park committee, Linda has helped make the day a celebrated event in the town of Delmar. The Greater Delmar Chamber of Commerce has not been the only benefactor of Linda's volunteer efforts. Linda turned her love of reading into service to the Delmar Public Library serving on the Board of Directors for three years. Her interest in education is evident in her teaching skills with the Junior Achievment at the Delmar Elementary School and Delmar High School. Junior Achievement is a program through which business leaders in the community teach young people about skills they will need in order to succeed in the business world. Upon being transferred to the Georgetown area, Linda has been particated in the reading programs through the Georgetwon Elementary Schools. Linda is currently affiliated with the Delmar Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Over the past four years, she has served as Vice President and presently serves as Assistant Treasurer of the group. Additionally, She is a member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. Although Linda is not working in the Delmar area, her heart is still in Delmar and it's people. Anyone invoved in the chamber could be a testament to Linda's dedication to Delmar. When she takes on a task, she puts her full effort into the event and the outcome is nothing under spectacular. Linda we are truely proud to present this award to you this evening and thank you for your support of our community through the many organizations you have served.
