The Greater Delmar Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our 2004 Citizens of the Year (that's right), we are honoring two individuals this year for their dedication and service to our community.
CONGRATULATIONS TO RON WILKOSZ AND DAVID HEARN

David B. Hearn

2004 Citizen of the Year - David Hearn

David Burton Hearn was born on February 18, 1957 to Nola & George "Joby" Hearn, Jr. Being born to very athletic parents, David was destined from the very beginning to be involved in sports. David attended school in Delmar graduating from Delmar High School in 1974. In the years that followed, he toured a few colleges. He attended one year at Weatern maryland College. After deciding the Eatern Shore was better, he atteneded Salsibury State the following year. After completing a year at Salsibury, he attended and graduated in 1981 from Shepherd College in West Virginia with a degree in physical education, history/social studies and safety. After college, he began teaching at Loudoun County High School. He continued to teach and coach at Loudoun from 1981 to 1991 when a position at Delmar became avaiable. Ah - was it time to come home? Yes it was!! Upon being hired at Delmar, David immediately became involved in coaching football and baseball, later accepting the athletic director role at the school. David's coaching career at Delmar has been rewarding to him as well as the school and Delmar community. David and his teams have presented the school with three (3) state football championships - 2001, 2002, 2003, all noteworthy events. In addition, under David's leadership, several baseball teams have advanced to state championship levels new to the Delmar team.

David married his wife Judy, who is from New Jersey, in 1982. To their marriage, they have been blessed with three children: Jordan is 20 and is serving our country in the U.S. Navy; Travis, 19 is a member of the National Guard and Brooke is in ninth grade and playing junior varsity hockey at Delmar High School. David is the older brother of Daniel Hearn and Nancy Hearn Lamb.

Ron and David ~ we as a Chamber and Town are extremely proud of your dedication and willingness to support our town and school programs. It is through your willingness to give and share with others that the programs you support have and will continue to excel under both of your leaderships!
