Mr. Shawn B. Brittingham
1999 Citizen of the Year - Shawn Brittingham
Shawn Brittingham is truely an outstanding citizen in our community. Shawn wears many hats in our town. He is a member of the VFW and the Lions Club, coaches Girls Senior League Softball, and serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee, the Board of Directors of Delmar Little League, and the Delmar School Board. Shawn gives 100% of himself to each of these roles. He spends countless hours working with the kids on the ball fields, training them and teaching them the value of playing as a team. He has become a very positive role model in each of their lives. Also, among his various roles, the most important to Shawn is that of husband and father. Shawn and Rosemary are proud parents of Katie, 17, and Joseph, 4. He has lived in Delmar his entire life and owned the Delmar IGA for eight years.
Shawn is well-liked by all. He is the type of person one would characterize as honest and a true friend. He constantly goes above and beyond his call of duty. This applies in his work place and in his community activities. He donates personal resources, through his store, to aid in promotions for the Town. He takes great pride in the Town of Delmar and its growth, and remains very active in our community at all times. He continuosly participates in volunteer projects. When you need a helping hand, Shawn is always there to assist.
It is easy to see why Shawn Brittingham is extremely deserving of the nomination for Citizen of the Year. We are very thankful to have such a caring and hardworking man in our community.
